CMB JUMPER SETTINGS: - No Jumper setting changes are needed.
EXTERNAL CACHE MEMORY (GPx-5190 486DX-50 / EISA): - The system should be configured for 512KB Cache. There should be 4 SRAM chips, part number IS61C1024-20 installed at locations U25, U26,U27,U28 (four chips on the right side) - For 512KB cache, the following jumper settings are required on the CMB: JP5 = 1-2 JP6 = 1-2 JP7 = 1-2 JP8 = 2-3 JP9 = 1-2 JP10= 1-2 JP12= 1-2 JP13= 1-2
- Drive part number is: 400937-001 & -002 - Terminator resistor packs must be installed. - Set jumper plugs for SCSI ID = 2 - Set jumper plug for PARITY Looking at the tape drive from the back, the first five positions of the jumper header should be empty, only positions six and eight should have a jumper plug installed.
- Terminator resistor packs must be removed. - Set jumper plugs for SCSI ID = 5 - Set jumper plug for PARITY

EISA CONFIGURATION UTILITY (GPx-5190): - Install a bootable MS-DOS diskette into the floppy drive - Boot from floppy - Remove MS-DOS diskette and install the Mitac EISA Configuration Utility diskette into the floppy drive (MAI p/n: W514862-001), the diskette should be "WRITE ENABLED" - cfg <CR> (Run the EISA CONFIG utility) - Configure <CR> (Use THE "-->" key) - Configure <CR> - Set "Configuration Type" to: "Modify Old Configuration" - Set Configuration Mode to: "Manual" - Set CMS file to modify to: "Use default CMS file name" - Move the cursor to [ OK ], then press <CR> - Make changes if necessary. Note: ISA controllers such as Specialix, modem, and Ethernet cards do not need to be configured.

Note: The MAI Offline Diagnostics diskette (W514832-007) does not boot on the GPx Series 60/90 systems. You must boot from a DOS diskette, then perform a soft reset and boot from the Diagnostics diskette.
- Boot from an MS-DOS diskette (version 3.3 or higher) - Install the MAI Offline Diagnostics diskette (W514832-007) on drive A and boot from it by perform a soft reset (Ctrl-Alt Del) - dive <CR> (Enter the Diagnostic program to boot:) - <CR> (When the proprietary message is displayed) - <Esc> (Hit ESCAPE to continue) - 1 (Device selection) - Select drive number to format - 2 (Format) - 1 (Standard format) - Y (Do you want to continue?) - Y (Are you sure?) Note: If the message: "Standard format parameters have not been defined for this drive. Do you want to format the drive anyway?" is displayed, type 'Y" to continue - The format operation will now begin. It may take from 30 minutes to over one hour to complete.
RUNNING DEMON - Install a blank tape cartridge into the tape drive - Boot from an MS-DOS diskette (version 3.3 or higher) - Install the MAI Offline Diagnostics diskette (W514832-007) on drive A and boot from it by perform a soft reset (Ctrl-Alt Del) - <CR> (Enter the Diagnostic program to boot:) - <CR> (When the proprietary message is displayed) - Note: If the message "No FIFOs." is displayed during SIZING - Modems, hit <CR> to continue. - <ESCAPE> (Hit <ESCAPE> to log on.) - 1 <CR> (UNIT TEST) - A <CR> (Pause on error = N) - E <CR> (Loop on test(s) = Y) - ALL <CR> (Test all) - R <CR> (RUN)
Note: Should the installation need to be restarted (i.e. an incorrect selection was made in response to a prompt, SCO serial number needs to be changed, etc..),power-off the system, insert the N1 diskette and power-on the system. At the boot prompt enter: restart <cr>
- Insert the "SCO Unix Installation Diskette N1" diskette into the floppy drive - Turn power ON - <cr> (when prompted "Boot :") - Remove "N1" diskette, then Insert "N2" diskette into the floppy drive, then hit <cr> - 1 <cr> (Fresh installation) Note: The Update installation option is not supported by the GPx-60/90 Systems.
