- Verify BIOS PROMS at locations U11 and U12 to be:
U11 = 4280 U11 R1.09 ODD CKS:FE00
- Terminator resistor packs must be installed. - Set jumper plugs for SCSI ID = 2 - Set jumper plug for PARITY - Install mounting rails
Looking at the tape drive from the back, the first five positions of the jumper header should be empty, only positions six and eight should have a jumper plug installed.
(Seagate WREN ST41650N)
- Terminator resistor packs must removed - Install jumper plugs from: 1-2 (Installed terminating power) 3-4 (Removed terminating power) 13-14 (parity checking) 19-20 (Removed)

- Remove Front Bezel (Use a flat screwdriver, bezel is mounted to the metal plate with a sheet of adhesive tape) - Install the disk drive into the 5-1/4" HDD mounting bracket from the system
- Drive's part number is 400757-008 - Remove drive's front bezel - Remove the three terminator resistor packs located next to the SCSI bus cable header. - Set jumper plugs for SCSI ID = 0 - Only the following jumper plugs should be installed:

- Drive's part number IS 400757-009 - The floppy drive has to be removed in order to install the hard disk drive. Record the serial number of the hard disk before installing. - Remove drive's front bezel - Remove the three terminator resistor packs located next to the SCSI bus cable header. - Set jumper plugs for SCSI ID = 0 - Only the following jumper plugs should be installed:

W A R N I N G !
A problem has been identified with MAXTOR LXT213 and LXT535 disk drives that will cause the drives not to come READY after a system is shutdown and power is restored. The problem is caused by a marginal integrated circuit at location "U18" on the disk drive's logic board.
All drives experiencing this problem should be rejected and returned to the vendor. Please write the following as the reason for reject:
MARGINAL "U18" DRIVE WILL NOT SPIN-UP, RETURN TO VENDOR.
FLOPPY DRIVE SETTINGS:
- No jumper setting changes are needed, - Floppy cable is connected to the motherboard (not the SCSI controller)
- The EISA BUSTEK controller is installed on slot #1 (next to the memory card). - Disable FLOPPY port by removing the jumper plug from jumper plug "FLP ENB" - Jumper plug at location "W1" should be installed at position "BC" - The PCBA revision level should be: "G" - The firmware level at IC location U5 should be: "1000007-2.21" - The firmware level at IC location U25 should be: "1000006-2.41"
SPECIALIX CONTROLLER JUMPER AND SWITCH SETTINGS:
- A maximum of (2) ISA cards can be installed or a maximum of (4) EISA cards.

There are no switches or jumpers to set on the EISA Specialix card, the following are the interrupt and starting address used when running the EISA configuration utility (MECU)

- The Ethernet board is installed on the second slot from the bottom of the card cage (slot #2). If there is a Specialix card, install the Ethernet card next to it. - JP1 : Set jumper block to "CHEAPERNET" (up position) - JP2 : Set jumper plug to "OFF" (down position) - JP3 : Install jumper plug at position "9" - JP4 : Set jumper plug to "OFF" (down position) - JP5 : 1=Down JP6 : 1=Down 2=Down 2=Up 3=Up 3=Down
- The modem is installed on the top slot of the card cage (slot #7) - There are no jumpers to set on this board. - Set switch positions 1, 3, 6 to the "ON" position - Set switch positions 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 to the "OFF" position
MODEM SWITCH SETTINGS (DataTrak 400822-001): - The modem is installed on the top slot of the card cage (slot #7) - There are no jumpers to set on this board. - Set switch positions 1, 3, 6 to the "ON" position - Set switch positions 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 to the "OFF" position
Models MX-2400, MX-2400SF, MX-2442B, & MX-2496 - This modem has a switch which has 6 DIPs on it. The modem should be configured for COM2, Interrupt 3 and Address 2f8. MODEM SWITCH SETTINGS (Practical Peripherals 400822-005: Model PM2400 - This modem has a two position switch accesible from the outside. The modem should be configured for COM2, Interrupt 3 and Address 2f8. - This modem has a four jumper plugs at the bottom right of the board. The modem should be configured for COM2, Interrupt 3 and Address 2f8. W A R N I N G : BEFORE APPLYING POWER TO THE SYSTEM VERIFY THAT THE POWER SELECTION SWITCH ON THE BACK OF THE UNIT IS SET TO THE PROPER AC INPUT VOLTAGE. Failure to select the correct input voltage will damage the system and create a fire hazard.

Note: MAI Manufacturing has a script that allows for automatic "config.si" configuration as well as "sysadmsh" terminals database configuration. Adding a new disk to the system is a three step process. First, the kernel must be reconfigured in order for it to recognize the new disk. Second, the reconfigured kernel must be booted. Third, the filesystems on the new disk must be configured.

- Perform dielectric withstand & ground continuity test per MF 8.5, be sure to make an entry in the test log and apply a "HI-POT" label in the back of the system.

The purpose of this tool is to allow installation of SCO UNIX with a minimum of user interaction.
1.0 INSTALLING THE TOOL:

The installation will now start, it will take about NINE minutes to complete. The installation will fail with the following error:"Initialization error -996 : invalid registration number format", this is a known bug in the install program, you MUST re-install OpenBASIC using the manual method.
