EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIRED:
- VGA monitor - 101/102 keyboard - SCO Unix System V Operating System S/W package - MAI Supplement diskette (MAI p/n: W514833-008) - Specialix diskette, 386/ix UNIX/XENIX DRIVER, Version 5.01 (this diskette comes in the box with the Specialix card) - OpenBASIC 4.0 BASE tape (or diskettes)
CMB JUMPER SETTINGS:
- No changes are needed. - The only jumper plugs installed are: JP2 = 1-2 JP3 = 1-2 JP4 = 1-2 JP5 = 1-2 JP6 = 1-2 JP7 = 3-4
1 GB SCSI TAPE DRIVE JUMPER SETTINGS:
- Tape drive part number is: 400937-001 - Terminator resistor packs must be installed. - Set jumper plugs for SCSI ID = 2 - Set jumper plug for PARITY - Install mounting rails
Looking at the tape drive from the back, the first five positions of the jumper header should be empty, only positions six and eight should have a jumper plug installed.
535 MB DISK DRIVE SETTINGS ( LXT-535S ):
- Drive's part number IS 400757-009 - The floppy drive has to be removed in order to install the hard disk drive. Record the serial number of the hard disk before installing. - Remove drive's front bezel - Remove the three terminator resistor packs located next to the SCSI bus cable header. - Set jumper plugs for SCSI ID = 0 - Only the following jumper plugs should be installed:

540 MB DISK DRIVE SETTINGS ( MXT-540S ):

W A R N I N G !
A problem has been identified with MAXTOR LXT213 and LXT535 disk drives that will cause the drives not to come READY after a system is shutdown and power is restored. The problem is caused by a marginal integrated circuit at location "U18" on the disk drive's logic board. All drives experiencing this problem should be rejected and returned to the vendor. Please write the following as the reason for reject: MARGINAL "U18" DRIVE WILL NOT SPIN-UP, RETURN TO VENDOR.
FLOPPY DRIVE SETTINGS:
- No jumper setting changes are needed, - Floppy cable is connected to the motherboard (not the SCSI controller)
ADAPTEC SCSI CONTROLLER AHA-1542B JUMPER SETTINGS:
- Adaptec ISA SCSI controller AHA 1542B, MAI p/n: 400771-002 - The SCSI controller is installed on the TOP slot of the card cage (slot #4). - Only the following jumper plugs should be installed:

ADAPTEC SCSI CONTROLLER AHA-1542C/1540C JUMPER SETTINGS:
- Adaptec ISA SCSI controller AHA 1542C, MAI P/N: 400771-003 - The SCSI controller is installed on the TOP slot of the card cage (slot #4). - Set dip switch "S1" as follows:
1 = ON (Enable Termination) 2 = OFF (I/O Address 330h) 3 = OFF (I/O Address 330h) 4 = OFF (I/O Address 330h) 5 = ON (Disable Floppy) 6 = ON (BIOS Address = C8000) 7 = OFF (BIOS Address = C8000) 8 = ON (BIOS Address = C8000)
SPECIALIX CONTROLLER JUMPER AND SWITCH SETTINGS:
- The Specialix board is installed on the second slot from the bottom of the card cage (slot #2) - Set jumper plug "LK1" to location "8" - Set rotary switch SW1 to "0" - Set rotary switch SW2 to "D"
MODEM SWITCH SETTINGS (DataTrak 400822-001):
- The modem is installed on the top slot of the card cage (slot #7) - There are no jumpers to set on this board. - Set switch positions 1, 3, 6 to the "ON" position - Set switch positions 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 to the "OFF" position
MODEM SWITCH SETTINGS (CALPAK MNP-5/V42bis 400822-003):
- This modem has a switch which has 6 DIPs on it. The modem should be configured for COM2, Interrupt 3 and Address 2f8. If there is a Specialix card, install the Ethernet card next to it. - JP1 : Set jumper block to "CHEAPERNET" (up position) - JP2 : Set jumper plug to "OFF" (down position) - JP3 : Install jumper plug at position "9" - JP4 : Set jumper plug to "OFF" (down position) - JP5 : 1=Down JP6 : 1=Down 2=Down 2=Up 3=Up 3=Down

BEFORE APPLYING POWER TO THE SYSTEM VERIFY THAT THE POWER SELECTION SWITCH ON THE BACK OF THE UNIT IS SET TO THE PROPER AC INPUT VOLTAGE. Failure to select the correct input voltage will damage the system and create a fire hazard.

Note: Should the installation need to be restarted (i.e. an incorrect selection was made in response to a prompt, SCO serial number needs to be changed, etc..),power-off the system, insert the N1 diskette and power-on the system. At the boot prompt enter: restart <cr>
- Insert the "SCO Unix Installation Diskette N1" diskette into the floppy drive - Turn power ON - <cr> (when prompted "Boot :") - Remove "N1" diskette, then Insert "N2" diskette into the floppy drive, then hit <cr> - 1 <cr> (Fresh installation)
Note: The Update installation option is not supported by the GPx 1130 System.

Note: The serial number is case sensitive and it usually begins with 3 alphabet letters followed by 6 numeric digits (i.e. mai123456).

Note: The MAI SSN for a GPx model 1130 consists of the prefix 4149 followed by 8 numeric digits (i.e. 4149-00301234)

Note: We have written an internal script to allow for automatic "config.si" configuration as well as "sysadmsh" terminals database configuration. The script's name is: CONFT, if you have it do the following at this point: - Install the tape containing CONFT into the tape drive - cd / <cr> (change directory to root) - tar xvf /dev/rStp0 <cr> (copy from tape to disk) - ./conft <cr> (run conft script) - rm conft <cr> (remove conft file from disk) - rm cps <cr> (remove cps file from disk) - Continue with FILESYSTEM ENABLING for drives greater than 380 MB.

ADDING A SECOND HARD DISK:
Adding a new disk to the system is a three step process. First, the kernel must be reconfigured in order for it to recognize the new disk. Second, the reconfigured kernel must be booted. Third, the filesystems on the new disk must be configured.

Note: OpenBASIC is shipped to the customer in 3-1/2" diskettes, Manufacturing will use a captive tape for installation only, the device name for floppy drive is: /dev/rfd0)

DIELECTRIC WITHSTAND & GROUND CONTINUITY TEST
- Perform dielectric withstand & ground continuity test per MF 8.5, be sure to make an entry in the test log and apply a "HI-POT" label in the back of the system.
LABEL REQUIREMENTS
- Remove MiTAC's Identification Silver label from the back of the system. - Remove "MADE IN TAIWAN" silver label from the back of the unit, The MAI silver label will have this information. - If present, remove the "Novell Labs Tested & Approved" red sticker from the back of the system.
- Apply the modem's FCC label that comes with the modem to the back of the system. - Apply the modem's DOC label that comes with the modem to the back of the system. - Using BITS "PRINT SILVER LABELS" program, make an identification label and attach to the back of the system, the label shall contain the following information:
