Soviet Computers Rule!

As mentioned on my collection page, I'm especially fascinated with collection Soviet computers at the moment. This is no more compulsive than any of my other obsessions, so if you have one for sale or know of anyone who does, please contact me!

The thing that I find most fascinating about Soviet computers is the fact that, at least here in the United States, for so long the USSR was viewed as the evil empire. In retrospect this was, of course, silly, but the US had to justify building up the military industrial complex somehow! This made Russian computing a total mystery - they had to have computers, certainly, but maybe the KGB forbade home computers and punished those who had them? Maybe Soviets didn't have PCs?

Now that we're all friends, Soviet computers can't be a mystery, so it's extremely interesting to me to see what Soviet people were using. Hence my collection, as shown on the previous page. Help me learn more! If you have any Soviet computer systems or know anyone who does, please ask them to get in touch with me.

I am especially interested in finding Soviet workstations or other systems running anything like Unix. I would gladly trade obscure US systems for anything along those lines.

These are the only Soviet computer systems that I currently have pictures of:
