YAMAHA Softsynthesizer README FILE ------------------------------------------ This README file contains technical information about YAMAHA Softsynthesizer S-YXG/DM. An updater program for Yamaha Software Synthesizer is included on the CD. This updater requirs the existence of YAMAHA Softsynthsizer S-YXG50/70/100. (If you don't have Yamaha SoftSynthesizer, please visit Yamaha Virtual Shop to purchase it.) By using this updater, you can update your SoftSynthesizer to S-YXG/DM, so that you can enjoy Finalfantasy VIII with the improved sound. ==================================== == I. Minimum System Requirements == ==================================== The minimum system requirements to run S-YXG/DM are: Computer: IBM-PC or AT compatible CPU: PentiumII 266MHz or better Real memory: 16MB or more Operating system: Windows 98 Sound functionality: PCM sound functionality is required DirectX: Microsoft DirectX 6.1 or later is required. It is included on the installation CD, and must be installed to play S-YXG/DM. ====================== == II. Installation == ====================== To install S-YXG/DM on your system, insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive and go to Yamaha S-YXGDM folder. 1) Double-click on Startup.exe at the Yamaha S-yxgdm directory of the CD, or 2) Go to Run... in your Start Menu and type d:\Yamaha S-yxgdm\Startup.exe (substitute your CD-ROM's drive letter if different from "d:") ** If the Finalfantasy Installation memu appears, please exit the installation menu. ** ===================================== == III. Configuration Instructions == ===================================== To utilize the Yamaha Software Synthesizer, run the FFVIII Configuration utility, then click on the Sound tab. From here you will see your Sound Driver and DirectMusic Port. Click on the DirectMusic Port list box and select "YAMAHA XG SoftSynthesizer". ===================================== == IV.
