ToyAlbum Ver.1.0 (Mar. 2000)

Path Mode of Albums

According to the location of the album relative to the image directory, the album has one of path modes. There are 3 modes.

In this figure, squares painted blue represent the image files and the directory.

  1. The album is saved in the same directory. This mode is called ``Relative Path Mode - 1.''
  2. The album is saved in the directory which contains the image directory. This mode is called ``Relative Path Mode - 2.''
  3. Other cases. This mode is called ``Absolute Path Mode.''
An album saved in relative path mode (1 or 2) can be moved together with the image directory. Conversely, if the album is moved apart from the directory, you could not display images at all. This mode would be suitable for arranging your original images.

An album saved in absolute path mode can be moved freely to any directory. Conversely, if the image directory is moved, you could not display images anymore. This mode would be suitable for making a list of images which are in a fixed directory, for example, images in CD-ROM.

When you save an album into other directory using ``Save As ...'' of the menu, even if the original mode is relative, the new album will have absolute path mode. On the other hand, an album in absolute path mode can not be converted into relative path mode.
